Rocha dos Bordões The Rocha dos Bordões is a vertical rock formation of extraordinary beauty that nature carved out of the basalt over the centuries – a true landmark on the island.
Lagoons The seven lagoons on the Island of Flores are located in volcanic calderas and are surrounded by lovely flowers. The Deep Lagoon, also called the Green Lagoon (Lagoa Funda or Lagoa Verde), has small areas of sand and is without a doubt the most charming, bedecked with hydrangeas and other vegetation.
Watermills Many of these mills were brought here by the first settlers, and even today they grind wheat and corn with the water power provided by the streams on the island. What a lovely sight indeed to see the mill house made of black volcanic rock, the moss-covered roof and the millwheel in operation.
